Surabaya, November 18, 2024 - Students of class X SMA Labschool Unesa visited the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisipol) of Surabaya State University (Unesa) as part of the Out-of-Class Learning activities. This visit aims to provide students with deeper insight into various aspects of social sciences studied in higher education. During the visit, they visited two educational laboratories at Fisipol Unesa, namely the History Education Laboratory and the Geography Education Laboratory.
Upon arrival at Fisipol Unesa, the students were greeted enthusiastically by the faculty and given a brief introduction to the campus environment and various facilities available. The students were then divided into two large groups and each took turns visiting the History Education Laboratory and the Geography Education Laboratory. In the History Education Laboratory, they were introduced to various collections and learning aids used to teach history in an interesting and interactive way, such as collections of scripts, archives, spices, and others.
Khanza Ramadhania, Isaac Abraham Narotama, and Nasha Aqila Zain, three students who participated in the visit, expressed their amazement at the various objects and tools in the History Education Laboratory. "We are very amazed by everything we see here. History becomes more alive when we can see the collections used to teach important events in the past," said Khanza enthusiastically.
Syahrani Granita, Assistant of the History Education Laboratory 2022, together with Dr. Izzatul Fajriyah, M.Pd., as Head of the History Education Sub-Laboratory, warmly welcomed the students. They explained the various collections owned by the laboratory, such as historical maps, important documents, and other learning aids that can enrich the history learning experience. "We want the students to be able to see firsthand how history is not only taught through textbooks, but also through various media that can help them better understand and appreciate the nation's history," said Dr. Izzatul Fajriyah.
After visiting the History Education Laboratory, the students continued their journey to the Geography Education Laboratory. Here, they had the opportunity to see various technologies and tools used to teach geography in a more applicable way, including learning to read maps depicting natural phenomena and geographical conditions in various parts of the world.
This visit was a valuable opportunity for students to experience firsthand the atmosphere of learning in higher education and broaden their horizons about the importance of social sciences in everyday life. In addition, this activity also gave them an overview of the various study programs at Fisipol Unesa, which can be an option for continuing their studies after they graduate from high school.
Through this Out-of-Class Learning activity, it is hoped that SMA Labschool Unesa students can gain valuable experience and be more motivated to pursue their dreams, especially in the fields of social sciences and education. (Lili)
